Promoted as "America's Lowest-Priced Straight Eight" and for 1951 celebrating its Silver Anniversary, Pontiac was providing to buyers what the division proclaimed as "25 years of advanced engineering."
On the hood of the pictured Chieftain Eight DeLuxe Convertible was Pontiac's trademark Silver Streak chromed trim strips, and new for the model year was the V-motif grille. Front and side-mounted bumper guards were standard equipment and this was the era where bumpers really could be used as bumpers.
