In 1970, Plymouth went all-out for NASCAR stock car racing with its release of the Road Runner "SuperBird,” created specially for Richard Petty. Featuring an aerodynamically-designed 18-inch nosecone, reverse-facing fender scoops, a flush rear window and towering 23.5-inch tall wing mounted atop the deck lid, this car was a win for Team Petty at the season-opening Daytona 500.
