'64 Studebaker Avanti

Futuristic Stude

A daring new car from Studebaker debuted in 1963, the fiberglass-bodied Avanti, a stunning and stylish sports car from the Raymond Loewy design studio. The car was created in Palm Springs with designers working around the clock in record time to finalize the unique shape.

Pictured is a 1964 edition, distinguishable by its square headlamp bezels.  ’63 Avanti models featured round bezels. The Avanti, Italian for “forward," was only produced for those two years.  After that, the Studebaker line of automobiles was gone. In private hands, however, an Avanti II lived on.
