'50 Hudson Step-Down

Sleek design provides modern low look

The pleasure of America's lowest center of gravity combined with road-hugging stability gave Hudson drivers an experience never experienced before from American car builders.

Torpedo styling was combined with unit-body construction with recessed floorpan. This provided occupants to sit low and in-between the frame rails, hence the Step-Down nickname. With optional "Supermatic" transmission there was a button on the dashboard that engaged overdrive.
