The Lincoln Indianapolis was presented at the 1955 Turin International Auto show as an "exclusive study by Boano Torino”, a talented Italian designer. Gian Paolo Boano’s styling work was futuristic and dramatic.
Seated on a 1955 Lincoln 123-inch wheelbase chassis, the Indianapolis was fitted with the Lincoln 341-cid V8 and Turbo-Drive automatic transmission. The two-seater featured a long hood and short deck, with four vertical headlights at the edges of the front fenders. Three faux exhaust pipes adorned the sides.
When it hit the cover of the November 1955 edition of Auto Age Magazine, the caption read: "Is This The Next Lincoln?" Henry Ford II did offer Boano a contract, however, this car was a one shot design arrangement.
